Avery 8160 is the inkjet version of the classic Avery 5160 address label. The layout is identical: thirty labels on a US Letter sheet, three across and ten down, each one inch tall and 2⅝ inches wide. The difference is the label face, which is made to take inkjet ink without smearing.

If you print on a laser printer, use 5160 instead. Either way, the PDF lines up the same.

What fits on an 8160 label

Four lines fit comfortably: a name, a street address, an apartment or unit, and the city, state and ZIP. Labeltime sizes each address to the label, and only makes the text smaller when a line is unusually long. Nothing gets cut off.

Printing tips for inkjet labels

  • Print at 100%. Choose "Actual size" or "100%" in the print dialog and turn off "Fit to page". That keeps every label inside its outline.
  • Pick a label or matte paper setting if your printer offers one. A plain-paper setting can lay down more ink than the label needs.
  • Let the sheet dry for a minute before you peel labels, especially in a humid room.
  • Print a test page on plain paper first. Hold it over a sheet of labels against a window to check the line-up.
  • Using a partly used sheet? Click the first empty label on the preview and Labeltime starts printing there.

Sheets that use the same layout

These share the 8160 layout: 5160 and 5260 (for laser printers) and 8660 (clear, inkjet). Store brands that say "compatible with 8160" use the same layout too; check that the label size and count per sheet match.
